About the Event

Wichita Falls Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is hosting a community baby shower in celebration of Black Maternal Health Week. Black women consistently have the nation’s highest maternal mortality rate. In 2014, the Black maternal mortality rate was 52.4 deaths per 100,000 births compared to the national rate of 21.5 per 100,000. That’s more than two times higher, and worse than any other racial or ethnic group according to https://usafacts.org/articles/the-us-maternal-mortality-rate-increased-nearly-40-in-2021-was-highest-for-black-women/
